A bit pricey but expected when getting a quality product from a longtime household name. This lock is sleek and works great so far. We previously had a different brand which we had to replace after it just stopped working so we invested a little more on this one when replacing our door. Love that you can set up multiple codes and also set a time frame in which they can be used. The app is user friendly and also works with alexa. Overall, highly recommend.I purchased the keyed version of the lock but received the keyless version. Unfortunately, I only saw it after it was installed by the Amazon installer. I was not happy with that but now it is too late. The lock is well made and of high quality, the configuration though was a hit or miss since there were no instructions on how to use the app. As an IT person, I would not have an issue configuring it but it took me too long to make it work.A person that has no tech skills will have to rely on the lock hardware only or get a techie to help with the app.I am very upset that I paid more for the keyed version and did not receive it.This review is for the Yale Assure SL Wifi Smart Lock with Cambridge Knob (purchased 12/15/21 for $309)PRO: This lock would have been great! The materials all seem like high quality. The instructions were extremely easy to follow for every aspect - installation, connection, and general use. Once installed, the smart lock worked exactly as expected and I really loved the multitude of features. Specifically, I liked the auto-unlock feature when you approach your door after being away. I also liked that this smart lock is wifi enabled and communicates (through the plug-in adapter) directly with your network as opposed to requiring a separate hub. Lastly, with regards to Yale customer service, there was a live person that would not only assist you with any aspect of the installation and use, but also utilized FaceTime so that the representative could even see what you are seeing to offer directed assistance.CON: The Yale Assure SL comes with two primary assemblies: the smart lock deadbolt, and the handle portion. When installing the deadbolt, I uninstalled the existing deadbolt from my front door and installed the new one without making any modifications. The Yale did not like my door frame and the customer service rep told me that the Yale lock has a long bolt (did not seem any longer than the one I was replacing?) and that any interference between the door frame and the bolt would cause the Yale to throw an error. I ended up drilling out my door frame all the way to the brick before it would fully extend without interference. Then the part that should have been the easiest, the knob and latch assembly, completely destroyed my faith in Yale. Straight out of the box, the latch assembly was defective. The carrier internal to the latch assembly was not connected to the latch itself, which meant that the rotation of the knob would not retract the latch, which meant that the door could not be opened. After FaceTiming with customer service, they confirmed that the latch was defective and that a new one would have to be sent out to me. Here's where things get really annoying. I was informed that the standard customer service department was completely separate from the mechanical department and that I would have to speak to the mechanical department directly. Oddly, these two departments have different business hours, which makes coordinating between the two quite difficult. After connecting with the mechanical department, they said all I needed to do was send them an email with my address and a picture of the latch assembly, and they would send a replacement. After a few days I call to get a status update and was told that no one had ever seen my email. I was asked for a Case ID. Well here's a fun fact: every single time you call Yale, they automatically generate a new Case ID for you that is unfathomably not tied to any of the previous Case IDs that you've been assigned. Oh, and another fun fact: the mechanical department has a completely separate Case ID system and for some unknown-but-likely-horribly-stupid reason CANNOT be accessed by the customer service department. This means that if you call customer service to ask about your mechanical department's case, they have no way of looking it up in their system (again, complicated by the different business hours between departments). Each time I would call, I would get a new person and the conversation would go something like this: Me: "Hi I'm calling to check on the status of my replacement." Yale: "Sorry, that Case ID is for the wrong department. You'll need to restart your claim with me. Here's your new Case ID number." After going around this circle 5 or 6 times, I finally called one last time saying, "This is an ultimatum. Please send me a replacement for my defective latch or I will be returning this item to Amazon."So I am returning this item to Amazon. I understand that there are occasional and unavoidable defects in any manufacturing process, but Yale really needs to get their corporate act together. If this lock were $50 then maybe I would put up with the exceedingly inept company, but it's hundreds of dollars and seriously not worth any more of my time or headache. Sorry Yale, I wanted to love you, but it doesn't take a management consultant to realize that your company is broken and it's hurting your business. This item is amazing, you can use either app yale or august. I had bought 4 already!Has a yale lock on almost each door and linked to my home kit. I seldom use the actual august app unless I need to recalibrate because once they are inside home kit siri takes care of the rest. I wish they worked with the ADT alarm system, and some versions do if you get the Z wave versions. I just migrated to the deadbolt after having to replace a regular one because it snapped as one person was entering and another was exiting. I called yale support and they replaced the lock no questions asked. I have tried Schlage and Kwikset smart locks and to have been in the business for hundreds of years you would figure that they are the leaders, but yale has the absolute best smart lock and customer service on the market.Love the way lock looks, easy to install lock. Complicated issues with getting app to work to unlock door from phone. I have spent several hours on phone with yale. For that reason alone I can't recommend this product.Great purchase, and so easy to install! The keyless lock and Bluetooth/zigbee module pairs easily with your phone. Included wireless module links your lock with WiFi for Alexa and other apps to work with it. Definitely a buy !I purchased this in 2020 and installed it in my front door. Thought I'd move into the keyless entry like everyone else and did lots of research prior to purchase. I waited two years to write this hoping something anything would change!Pro..Glass keypad and low profile clean lookCONS..The connecting (wifi) plug is within two feet of the front door and somehow the entry keypad always bounces offline which prevents entry. The keypad will cue "awake" upon touch only to arbitrarily begin flashing and beeping. It wont clear, only repeat this nonsense over and over preventing me from entering my code and entering my home. This keyless entry does come with a user friendly app, when its in fact user friendly. In a perfect world I am able to arrive at my house and unlock the door from the app by simply pressing the open button. This helps if you are loaded down and only have one hand available to simply open the door. Can't tell you how many times this has not worked and I have dropped what I'm carrying (usually in the rain) trying to make entry.I have replaced batteries, unplugged wifi unit, unplugged the locks internal wifi unit and called the company. The company rep that answered the phone only ran through the standard practices listed above. This set was not inexpensive and so NOT worth any of the money spent. I have trudged through weather and darkness to enter through my regular key entry back door more times than I can count.Save yourself my experiences and look elsewhere!! Complete garbage!!Great lock looks very nice and seems like good quality and easy to install. BUT make sure if fits. The actual bolt comes with a striker plate attached and not removable if you need a reset dead bolt you can not get them shipped to Canada!!! I needed a US address and then had to be forwarded!! They will NOT under any circumstance send parts to Canada unless it is replacment and must be the same exact part!!
